The main purpose of this role is to:

Mechanically assemble and wire industrial control panels. Electrically wire and pneumatically pipe automation machinery to enable function of the controls. To test and commission the machinery prior to shipment.

Daily duties will include:

  • Assemble and wire industrial control panels working from circuit diagrams provided
  • Install the control panels onto the machine
  • Loom the cabling back to the control panel and make the final connections
  • Test the control system and the machine to ensure that the function is correct to the design criteria
  • Assemble the required hardware onto control panels
  • Install all wiring ensuring that the correct size and colour is used
  • Install pnuematic pipes between the cylinders and solenoid valves
  • Test the control systems and the machinery for function
  • Opportunities will exist for learning the produce PLC and HMI programs for the equipment that we manufacture

You will be working towards a Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard.

You will receive on and off the job training and support from an assessor and an apprenticeship advisor. 

You will be required to attend Cornwall College Engineering Skills Centre, Sisna Park on a regular basis as part of the apprenticeship training.
