we have mixture of competition horses from all disciplines as well as young horses to break in and produce. The job role will be varied and includes the opportunity to travel to events and training facilities. There will be great training and riding opportunities for the right person.

As part of the job role you will:

  • Learn, understand and adhere to the rules and regulations of the equine industry;
  • Implement strict health and safety guidance including the use of Personal Protective Equipment for every tasks, specifically when riding/exercising the horses
  • Work with and respect your employer/mentor, carrying out exact instructions
  • Have excellent communication skills with your mentor during and throughout training
  • Monitor the health and wellbeing of the horses
  • Mucking out and replacing bedding with fresh clean materials
  • Ensuring feed and food supplies are clean and fresh
  • Prepare horses for competitions and client viewings

Things to consider

You will be working in all kinds of outdoor weather carrying out physical tasks. You will be required to attend Kirkley Hall College, Northumberland, NE20 0AQ one day per week as part of your apprenticeship. **

About the employer

We have 12 boxes on site, off road hacking, 30 x 50 all weather arena with a full set of show jumps.

We have a huge variety of horses, from part and full liveries whose horses require day to day care, young horses just coming in for the first time to be handled and broken in, to competition horses who regularly compete in dressage, show jumping and eventing.
