Summary
As a People Administrator Apprentice, you will join the Group People Hub and begin your journey into the world of HR operations. You will support the team with essential administrative tasks across the employee lifecycle, learning about HR processes and systems.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Act as a first point of contact for basic employee and manager queries, providing helpful and friendly support.
- Setting up and updating records to maintain accurate employee data within the HR system (Sage People), including corrective actions from data audits.
- Respond to queries on our ticketing system, escalating more complex issues to colleagues as appropriate.
- Administer all paperwork for new starters, contractual changes and leavers.
- Support onboarding processes, ensure right to work and vetting checks are completed.
- Work with colleagues and the payroll team to ensure accurate information is provided for monthly payroll, managing any over payment situations that may occur.
- Support the people hub team with advising employees and managers on family leave requests.
- Support the people hub team with general administrative tasks and ad hoc requests.
- Contribute to a positive team culture and continuous improvement by sharing ideas and feedback, as well as questioning why and how we do things.
- Participate in team projects to improve our People Hub services and employee experience, taking on tasks suitable for your level of experience.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the people team.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Service Delivery: Delivers excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. Builds managers’ expertise in HR matters, improving their ability to handle repeated situations themselves where appropriate. Uses agreed systems and processes to deliver service to customers. Takes the initiative to meet agreed individual and team KPIs in line with company policy, values, standards. Plans and organises their work, often without direct supervision, to meet commitments and KPIs.
- Problem Solving: Uses sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Takes ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
- Communication & Interpersonal: Deals effectively with customers/colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media eg phone, face to face, email, internet. Adapts their style to their audience. Builds trust and sound relationships with customers. Handles conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
- Teamwork: Consistently supports colleagues /collaborates within the team and HR to achieve results. Builds/maintains strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.
- Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve HR performance and service; acts on them within the authority of their role. Supports implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.
- Managing HR Information: Maintains required HR records as part of services delivered. Prepares reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
- Personal Development: Keeps up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to their role. Seeks feedback and acts on it to improve their performance and overall capability.
Training schedule
HR Support Level 3 apprenticeship alongside internal training on internal processes and procedures.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4)
- Maths (grade 4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements
This position offers hybrid working which will increase to a typical pattern of 3 days working from home and 2 days in the office, dependant on business needs. There will be a virtual assessment centre as part of the recruitment process where you will be required to complete certain tasks. If successful you would then be invited to an interview. The provisional start date for this position will be January 2026.
