Summary
As an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with our commercial, accounting, and project management teams to support the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects. This is a hands-on role that provides the opportunity to learn while working, with day-release study at a recognised college.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Accurate data reviews and entry.
Maintenance of project and financial records ensuring all information is kept up to date, consistent and compliant with internal processes.
Supporting accounts team with reconciliations and financial reports.
Assisting Quantity Surveyor with monitoring of project budgets, costs, and variations.
Maintain accurate commercial records for ongoing projects.
Carry out cost value reconciliations for projects.
Maintaining organised records and ensuing information is up to date
Prepare and update spreadsheets, reports, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Assist with filing, record keeping, and ensuring all project information is properly stored and accessible.
Coordinate with other departments to gather information as required.
Providing general administrative support across the commercial, accounts and project management teams.
As detailed in the vacancy description, on a daily basis you may be required to carry out some, part, or all of the tasks listed dependant on confidence and ability. We are happy to work with you to gain the confidence in these areas so eventually you will carry out the tasks on your own but we will not push you if you are uncomfortable.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
- Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
- Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
- Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
- Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
- Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
- Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
- Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.

Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4 and above (or Level 2 equiv))
- maths (grade 4 and above (or Level 2 equiv))
- Science (grade 4 and above (or Level 2 equiv))
