What you'll do at work

Main Purpose of Job:

The primary purpose for the incumbent in this role is to support scientists by working on assignments that are semi-routine in nature, recognizing the need for occasional deviation from accepted practices such as:

  • Maintaining laboratory stocks (such as aliquoting cell culture reagents, consumables etc.)
  • Ensuring smooth day-to-day operations

Assisting in maintaining lab equipment, records, and safety protocols

While errors may result in delays and minor cost impacts, the role normally follows established procedures for routine work and requires instructions for new assignments. The individual works under general supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help keeping the labs safe, clean, and well-stocked.
  • Run pre-established experimental procedures, generate and analyse data with guidance from managers or colleagues.
  • Prepare communal laboratory reagents and biological samples.
  • Stock control, purchasing, and timely distribution of lab reagents and consumables.
  • Oversee maintenance and servicing of lab equipment and report faults.
  • Perform general laboratory housekeeping tasks, including waste disposal and treatment.
  • Maintain laboratory glassware.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of completed work.
