Summary

Kate Tarrant is a professional event rider based at Littleton Manor Equestrian Centre in Surrey, she is looking for a new equine apprentice groom to join her team. Hours are 45 per week, over 6 days to include weekend work , plenty of excellent opportunities to ride , compete and groom at events for the right applicant.

£17,667 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

This is a large 40 horse yard with lots going on, they have liveries, run events, buy and sell horses and compete. All general yard duties to include:

  •  Mucking out/ keeping yard tidy
  • Turning in and out / changing rugs
  • Filling haynets and water buckets
  • Feeding
  • Grooming / Tacking up
  • Helping to run the events
  • Riding / Training for the right candidate
  • Grooming at competitions

  • Equine Groom Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard:
  • All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours
  • Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Due to this being a live in position on a self contained cottage on the yard , the employer has asked for applicants 18 and over . Livery for own horse available .

About this employer

I am a Professional Event Rider based at Littleton Manor Equestrian Centre in Reigate, Surrey. My aspiration is to reach the very top of the sport of three day eventing and I am highly motivated and ambitious to get there. Over the past few years I have been working hard to build up a strong string of horses that all have the ability to compete at the top levels.
