Summary

Elms Farm is a professional livery yard that also has a riding school, sales yard and is an affiliated event centre. As part of your apprenticeship you will be looking after a variety of horses completing horse care tasks.

£15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As the apprentice on the yard, you will be required to complete all yard duties such as:

  • Feeding
  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/ fetching in
  • Caring for a variety of livery horses

Also, you will be learning skills such as;

  • Clipping
  • Loading
  • Trimming
  • Bathing

You will improve your customer service skills by dealing with clients over at the riding school and supporting show days. They also have breeding stock on site.

Your training plan

All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach. 

There will also be opportunities to ride is that is something you would like to do.

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Other requirements

This yard requires applicants who have a good level of equine knowledge. A level 2 Equine qualification (or comparable experience) will be advantageous when applying for this role. There is no accommodation available on site, so please ensure you can make your own way reliably to the location each day. There may be the possibility for you to bring your own horse to the yard dependent on availability.
