Summary

A fantastic opportunity to join our school. The role will support class learning either in groups or with individual learners ensuring that learners understand their work and their learning objectives. Support will be provided to learners with different abilities and starting points with some learners potentially having special educational needs.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Working in partnership with other professionals to support learners
  • Establish positive relationships with learners and promote positive behaviours
  • Deliver individual/small group support in partnership with other professionals
  • Support students’ learning across the curriculum, tailoring support to match the students’ needs
  • To keep records of and mark work completed during teaching sessions led by the post holder
  • Support teacher planning
  • Contribute to the management of student’s behaviour and encourage the students
  • Other duties as and when required

  • Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.
  • Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
  • Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

Training schedule

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade C/4 or above)
  • Maths (grade C/4 or above)
