Summary

Leyland Court are looking for a new equine apprentice groom to join their team. Leyland Court is a 60-horse competition/livery yard who also hold jumping and dressage shows and offer arena hire. They boast both indoor and outdoor arenas, as well as a cross-country course.

Wage

£15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Working 5 days out of 7, final shift pattern to be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate. Please expect to work weekends.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to undertake all yard duties, his will include (but not be limited to); 

  • Mucking out/ keeping yard tidy 
  • Filling hay nets/ water buckets 
  • Feeding 
  • Picking out feet / Grooming 
  • Turning in and out/ putting horses on and off horse walker 
  • Tacking up/ getting ready for shows 
  • Riding for right candidate 
  • Chance to groom at shows

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Your training plan

All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day-to-day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

There is no accommodation available with this position, however there is a bus stop at the end of the road. Please make sure you can get to and from the yard reliably before applying for this role.
