Summary
This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual to join our friendly Accounts team as an apprentice, handling tasks like coding invoices, entering bank receipts and managing the Finance team inbox. You'll work alongside and be mentored by our team of three, who have over 60 years of combined experience at Lord Rayleighs Farms.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Day to day objectives and responsibilities:
- To support the daily functioning of the Accounts team
- To be cross trained in a variety of areas to provide cover when needed including dealing with domestic and commercial tenants
- To continually develop the skills required to take on future responsibilities
- Managing the Finance email inbox
- Scanning and coding of invoices
- Entering Bank Receipts
- Process Purchase Ledger BACS payment for authorisation
- Bank Account statements reconciliations
- Monthly VAT checks and inputting returns
- Help prepare Year end accounts

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan
- The apprentice will be working towards the Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2 apprenticeship standard including the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
- Classroom attendance at Colchester Institute (Colchester Campus) every other week
- Dependent on prior qualifications/experience the employer could consider a candidate for the Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship

About this company
Lord Rayleigh’s Farms Limited is a progressive family-owned property and farming company formed in 1876 based on the Terling Estate, near Chelmsford in Essex. The estate includes a significant residential and commercial property portfolio together with commercially managed woodlands and renewable energy interests.
