What you will do in your working day

Working as part of a team, it is the responsibility of the leisure team member to undertake a range of operational duties such as:

  • Assisting with opening and closing of the facility
  • Assisting the swimming instructor and teaching swimming lessons once qualified
  • Undertaking routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and environment
  • Assist with the safe set up of equipment for customers use
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times

The training you will be getting

  • Level 2 Leisure Team Member standard
  • Level 2 in Swimming Teaching
  • Level 2 in Fitness or Gym Instructing
  • Level 3 Certificate in First Aid
  • English and maths functional skills (if required) 
  • On and off the job training and location to be confirmed

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Subject to successful completion of your apprenticeship there will be ample opportunities for you to continue to work in your chosen field of leisure, whether it be as a swimming instructor or train as a duty manager.
