What you will do in your working day
- Assisting in removal and fitting of sails
- Learning to cut, loft and sew sails
- Assisting head sailmaker service existing skills
- Manufacturing new sails
- Sewing and machinery
- Fitting of sail hardware and rope
- On the water rigging new sails and testing sails
The training you will be getting
- You will be working towards a Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship Standard
- You will receive on and off the job training and support from an assessor and an apprenticeship advisor
- You will be required to attend Falmouth Marine School on a weekly basis as part of the apprenticeship training
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship there will be the opportunity to transition into a full-time sailmaker
