What will the apprentice be doing?

As a carpentry apprentice you will work alongside a professional carpenter onsite and will learn all aspects of carpentry and joinery.

You will be expected to learn how to:

  • Measure
  • Cut 
  • Build

You will be working with wood on a day to day basis and must be precise with all of your work.

The successful apprentice will need to be able to understand and follow instructions quickly and precisely due to the high level of work they will be completing.

They must work to specific deadlines on all tasks.

They will need to take pride in their work and have good communication skills to deal with customers and colleagues.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will be working towards a Level 2 Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship standard.

You will receive on and off the job training and support from an assessor and an apprenticeship advisor.

You will be required to attend Cornwall College St Austell on a weekly basis as part of the apprenticeship training.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Upon successful completion of the Level 2 Apprenticeship, there will be an opportunity for further training and development and progression to the Level 3.
