What will the apprentice be doing?

We as a company supply extremely high-quality training facilities such as – Live Fire Shoot houses, Fire Training facilities (Carbonation Unit), Air Delivery Platforms, Fully Kitted Gyms and Secure Rooms/Armouries for the UK Special Forces and Regular Armed Forces all over the world.

You would be a key member of the team that would work closely with experienced welders, to manufacture all the above to a very high standard.

Every day is different, and upon manufacture completion there will be opportunities to install the finished product on site at a destination, that could be anywhere in the world.

The Candidate will split between the SOE workshop and HP workshop with a Fortnightly swap. This will be job dependant as swapping over while an ongoing job may have 1-2 days left to finish would not be beneficial. I would try and ensure they see it through, SOE Jobs can last months but tend to be split into sections, and HP tend to work on a smaller scale with fitness equipment but in much higher quantities.

General daily tasks may include –

  • Edge prepping flat and tube steel sections for welding.
  • Working from detailed drawings to assemble steel frame structures and secure walling withing shipping containers or in open space.
  • Working as a team to complete daily welding, fabrication and housekeeping tasks in order to achieve deadlines.
  • Communicate with colleagues regularly to ensure everyone is aware of all daily tasks and who is responsible for which.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will be gaining the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to achieve the Level 3 Metal Fabricator apprenticeship standard;

Metal fabricator / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education

You will be required to attend College for your day release two days per week, term time only, for the first year of your apprenticeship programme (on our London Rd Campus.)

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Successful Apprentices will be offered a full-time role as a skilled Welder/Fabricator within the BeaverFit Workshop/Yard team.
