    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

    You will be working on a rota basis, 4-5 days a week Thursday - Sunday. Shift times to range between 10am and 10pm. Extended hours may occur in season.

What you will do in your working day

Daily duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and serving food
  • Keeping the kitchen up to hygiene standards
  • Using creativity to contribute to menus
  • Working as part of a team
  • Delivering pre-shift brief on specials
  • Tracking waste and creating orders

The training you will be getting

You will be working towards a Level 2 Commis Chef apprenticeship standard including Functional Skills (if required).

You will receive on and off the job training and support from an assessor and an apprenticeship advisor.

You will be required to attend either Cornwall College St Austell or Camborne on a weekly basis as part of the apprenticeship training.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

There may be an opportunity for further development and permanent employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

About the employer

The Pheasant Inn, now under new, enthusiastic management has independent control over our own menus with a strong influence on food. Our small team of friendly staff serve food, alcohol and soft drinks to the small community of Churchtown as well as St Newlyn East and the surrounding areas – Mitchell, St Columb, Zelah, Cubert, Truro, Newquay and the A30 Trade.
