CNC Machinist Apprentice Tooling 2000 Limited
You will gain first-hand experience of 2D & 3D CAD Tool design, developing 3 and 5 axis programmes, CNC machining and tooling inspection. Once trained to the required level, you will also be responsible for managing your own projects. Prospects for successful individuals include progression within the CNC team or within the CAD/CAM department.

What will the apprentice be doing?
Duties to include but not limited to:
- 2D & 3D CAD Tool design
- Developing 3 and 5 axis programmes
- Basic fitting techniques
- The setting and programming of work on CNC machines
- Checking and inspection of Tooling
- Understanding both in house and customer supplied engineering drawings
- Use of the crane’s to safely manoeuvre work
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will receive on the job training and guidance from your employer and will also attend Sandwell College 1 day per week to achieve your Level 3 Engineering Technician qualifications.
After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- Level 2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) - Machining
- Level 3 Diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge)
Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking end point assessment
