What will the apprentice be doing?
Key areas of responsibility:
- Support the successful development of new Fosroc products
- Ensure all practical lab and site activities are in full accordance with HSE and other related policies
- Maintain testing equipment and lab areas
- Follow good practice and rigorous adherence to test methods and protocols
- Provide high-level technical support to the Fosroc UK operating company, relating to alternative materials evaluations, resolving production issues, product testing and application demonstrations. Ensure all work activities are appropriately documented/recorded
- Attend course at partnering institution, leading to Level 6 / degree qualification in Materials Science, bringing latest academic knowledge and expertise to all above activities.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 6 / Degree qualification in Materials Science:
- You will be studying this course part-time over four years. The degree apprenticeship is a workbased learning qualification, comprised of off-the-job and on the job learning
- Throughout your studies, you will be able to apply your learning into practice within the workplace. The teaching is delivered via block release to face-to-face teaching, virtual classrooms and self-led study with guidance from the University
- Modules will include; applied science methods, materials properties and processing, forensic investigation of materials failures and advanced engineering materials and applications amongst others
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- It is anticipated that a permanent role will be offered upon the successful completion of the apprenticeship
