What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Provide support for library marketing and outreach events and campaigns
  • Participate in Library and Knowledge Services team meetings and wider workforce team meetings, contributing to the discussions and decisions
  • Maintain the order of the Library collection in accordance with DDC22 standards, escalating any complex work to the Senior Library Assistant or Library and Knowledge Services Manager.
  • Manage the circulation of physical library stock, including the library’s collection of online and hard copy journal subscriptions, dealing with suppliers, chasing missed issues, investigating problems with online access and collecting usage statistics
  • Assist library users with evidence-based resources such as UpToDate, the National Discovery Service, online journals and books, escalating more complex queries to the Library and Knowledge Services Manager

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • You will undertake a Level 3 Customer Service Specialist Apprenticeship which will be delivered on-site/one day per week

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • On successful completion of the Level 3 Customer Service Speciaist Apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to progress to a permanent Band 3 Library Assistant position
