What will the apprentice be doing?
This is a practical role where you will be involved in all aspects of equine care and management. You will be responsible for caring for horses to a high standard and provide support to clients attending the riding centre for riding lessons / competitions.
Daily Duties include:
- Safely handling and moving horses from the fields
- Grooming and tacking up horses for lessons
- Feeding horses
- Cleaning stables
- Clean of equipment, such as tack
- Interacting with clients
- Exercising horses (subject to experience and
suitability)
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship standard.
You will receive on and off the job training and support from an assessor and an apprenticeship advisor.
You will be required to attend Duchy College Stoke Climsland on a weekly basis as part of the apprenticeship training.
Apprentices without level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level and take the test for level 2 English and maths prior to completion of their apprenticeship.
