What will the apprentice be doing?

Assisting the senior chef and head chef in daily tasks including:

  • The preparation, cooking and service of food as directed by the chef in charge, whilst complying to the food safety act, portion control and presentation standards.
  • Ensure that working areas are kept clean
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained as directed by the chef in charge
  • Ensure that opening up /closing down procedures are complied to
  • Stock takes and ordering of raw ingredients

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Commis Chef Standard level 2 (delivered within the workplace)
  • Functional skills maths, English and IT (if required)
