What will the apprentice be doing?

We are seeking an enthusiastic, driven apprentice looking to begin their career in Engineering.

You will work as part of the R&D Test team developing new and existing products, bringing in fresh ideas you will ensure we maintain and expand our cutting-edge products through rigorous and thorough testing to regulatory standards.

The chosen candidate will work closely with the Senior Test Engineer as part of a small and agile team within a rapidly expanding company.

The successful candidate will acquire the following responsibilities:

  • Observing, learning and understanding a wide range of engineering skills and processes while under the Instruction of skilled technical staff.
  • To be able to demonstrate these skills and processes as the training period progresses by working independently or with a team, to undertake tasks as instructed and increasing overall contribution to the department.
  • To undertake and successfully complete a suitable college course throughout the employment period.
  • To develop the skills to construct or modify apparatus and instruments from verbal instructions and drawings to a high degree of precision.
  • To maintain and to ensure general good housekeeping of the workplace and laboratory areas.
  • To be a positive ambassador of Kensa at all times.
  • To work at all times in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and to follow all company procedures and guidelines which assist this.
  • To work at all times in accordance with the company’s Dignity and Diversity policy.
  • To undertake such other duties as may be required within the general scope of the job.

 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will be working towards a Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard.

You will receive on and off the job training and support from an assessor and an apprenticeship advisor.

You will be required to attend Cornwall College Camborne on a weekly basis as part of the apprenticeship training.

Mandatory qualifications will include:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
    After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

Mount Wellington in Chacewater, is located in a rural location between Bissoe and United Downs. There is a public bus (46, 47 and U2) that runs past United Downs then you will need to walk the rest of the way if you do not have your own transport. We have free parking on site.
