About the employer

Cross Gates and District Good Neighbours’ Scheme CIO works with and for older people to: Reduce loneliness and isolation Support independence Promote healthy lifestyles Try new things Cross Gates & District Good Neighbours’ Scheme began in 2002 with a weekly coffee morning based in Cross Gates library, in small groups, with some of our current trustee members attending these coffee mornings. Now, more than 40 people attend each coffee morning, which we hold twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Our service users are very active participants in our work. They contribute ideas, skills, time, goods and money, as well as constant encouragement and feedback. Our volunteer team, which includes our trustees, give a generous level of commitment and hands on service to the scheme, without which, many of our activities could not run. This also provides another opportunity for the older adults of Cross Gates, who are not quite ready to attend the groups yet and would rather provide assistance.
