Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
About the Role Are you curious about how engineered products are designed and manufactured? At Ram Power, we're looking for an ambitious and motivated apprentice to join our specialist engineering team. This is much more than an apprenticeship - it's an opportunity to build a long-term career within a growing manufacturing business. You'll gain a unique understanding of the entire manufacturing process, from engineering drawings and production planning through to assembly, inspection and testing. Working alongside experienced engineers and technicians, you'll develop practical knowledge, technical skills and real workplace experience that will set you up for a successful future in engineering. This role combines hands-on manufacturing experience with technical and organisational engineering support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both practical problem-solving and working with technology.
What You'll Be Doing During your apprenticeship, you'll:
- Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Support production planning and manufacturing activities
- Assist with quality checks, inspections and recording production data
- Gain experience using engineering documentation and bills of materials
- Work with manufacturing and assembly teams to understand how products are built
- Support continuous improvement projects and process development
- Learn about materials, machining processes and manufacturing methods
- Use computer-based engineering systems and technical software
- Help identify manufacturing challenges and contribute to solutions
- Develop an understanding of how products move from design to manufacture, assembly, inspection and testing
To help build your knowledge and experience, you'll spend time across different areas of the business, gaining first-hand exposure to how engineering products are manufactured and delivered. What We're Looking For We're far more interested in your attitude, curiosity and willingness to learn than previous experience. We're looking for someone with a genuine interest in engineering and manufacturing who enjoys understanding how things work and how products are made. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with both computers and practical tools, have good attention to detail, and enjoy solving problems. They will be eager to learn, confident in asking questions, able to communicate effectively with colleagues, and motivated to build a long-term career within the engineering industry. At Ram Power, we don't just train apprentices - we develop future engineers. Please outline your travel arrangements in your application and confirm you can attend work and training reliably.
