Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Lead on the logging and administration of all formal FoIA, EIR and Subject Access Requests for access to information. This includes logging cases on a case management system, allocating to the relevant service area and “chasing” requests, so they are responded to within statutory timescales.
- Process Subject Access requests by reading through and preparing often complex and voluminous information such as Social Care files, for review by the Information Governance Officers.
- Consult with the relevant service areas and key staff and stakeholders regarding information that is held by the council and is subject to an information request. To seek their views upon the possible release of that information and to take those views into account when preparing the council's response, escalating to the Information Governance Officers where necessary.
- Deal directly with initial enquiries from members of the public and individuals seeking advice on accessing information and personal data.
- To support colleagues with the day-to-day operation of the council’s off-site-storage service for schools and council employees and management of records. This will include the management of box movement, arranging for collections and delivery of boxes, ‘scan on-demand’ requests and associated work.
- Study towards the Data Protection and Information Governance Practitioner qualification.
Any other appropriate duties as and when required.
