Summary

This role provides an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join the Trust Central IT Team, to provide first-line IT support to staff and students across the school and wider Trust environment, and help build, image and deploy Windows devices across our sites.

What you'll do at work

Key Responsibilities:

Service Desk & User Support

  • Act as the first point of contact for IT support requests via phone, email, walk-up queries and the Trust IT service desk platform
  • Log, categorise, prioritise and maintain incidents and service requests accurately within the IT service desk system
  • Provide first-line troubleshooting for common hardware, software, printing, Microsoft 365, Windows, Chromebook and network connectivity issues
  • Support user account and access requests, including password resets, account unlocks and basic permissions queries, in line with Trust procedures
  • Provide responsive on-site support for staff and students, including assistance with device access, login issues and classroom technology
  • Support the use of interactive displays, projectors, visualisers, printers and audio equipment to help ensure lessons, examinations, events and meetings run smoothly
  • Prepare IT equipment and learning spaces for lessons, examinations, events and staff meetings as required
  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues to appropriate IT team members, keeping users updated on progress and resolution timescales
  • Deliver a professional, approachable and customer-focused support experience at all times

Device & Asset Management

  • Assist with the setup, configuration, imaging, deployment, and collection of laptops, desktops, Chromebooks, and mobile devices
  • Maintain and update IT asset registers accurately
  • Support basic hardware repairs, upgrades, and peripheral replacement
  • Assist with stock control and management of IT consumables and equipment

Operational & Administrative Duties

  • Adhere to Trust IT policies, safeguarding procedures, cyber security standards, and data protection requirements
  • Maintain accurate documentation, ticket updates, and technical records
  • Support onboarding activities for new staff including account creation and device preparation
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, organised, and professional IT workspace
  • Support Trust-wide IT projects, deployments, and rollout activities during quieter operational periods

  • Develop self within the post, undertaking training/appraisal as appropriate to ensure that relevant knowledge and skills are updated to support school development

  • Apply the necessary security, in line with access and/or encryption requirements
  • Use a range of Cabling or Connectors equipment in line with technical requirements for example physically or remotely
  • Test and evaluate network environments
  • Monitor performance and usage of a network

  • Carry out routine maintenance across network systems, ensuring organisational compliance

  • Establish digital communication or telecommunications systems through, for example cabling and connecting equipment.
  • Identify a range of tools and or diagnostic equipment, for example, Hardware or Software components, to resolve Communications or Telecommunications requirements.

Training schedule

Estio apprenticeship training programmes are delivered virtually by our fully qualified and industry experienced training team. Using their expert knowledge, we’ve purposefully built our programmes around the real-world use of modern technology, so that the skills we create can be directly applied in the workplace.

Throughout the apprenticeship learners receive coaching, help and guidance from a dedicated team who are there to ensure they get the most from their work experience.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communications Technician, with training in how to:

  • Efficiently operate and control your ICT infrastructure – physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and at a storage
  • Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components
  • Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance
  • Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards
  • Support the information systems needs for your business

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Including English and Maths (grade 4/C or above, or equivalent)

About this employer

The role is based primarily at Benton Park School Rawdon but may involve work at any of our Trust schools and SLA schools.

The ICT Apprentice will provide first-line IT support to staff and students across the school and wider Trust environment, and help build, image and deploy Windows devices across our sites. Acting as the first point of contact for IT support, the role is responsible for logging, triaging, resolving, and escalating incidents and service requests efficiently and professionally in line with Trust standards and service expectations.

The postholder will support the smooth day-to-day operation of teaching, learning, and business systems within a fast-paced educational environment, delivering a high standard of customer service across multiple schools.
