Summary

his is a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn, working towards a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship while gaining hands on experience supporting children in the classroom and across school life.

You will be based in Year 5 (Key Stage 2), working alongside an experienced teaching team. 

Wage

£12,480 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

This is a term time position - You will be paid on a pro-rata basis so that you receive renumeration during school holidays

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Your role will include:

  • Supporting pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils, including those with complex needs
  • Using agreed strategies to support pupils with SEMH needs and help them regulate their emotions and access learning
  • Supporting positive behaviour and helping to de-escalate situations when pupils become distressed or dysregulated
  • Working alongside teachers and the SENDCo to support individual pupils and their specific needs
  • Delivering planned activities with individuals and small groups under the guidance of teaching staff
  • Supporting teachers with classroom activities, resources and preparation
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours
  • Contributing to observations, assessment and recording of pupil progress
  • Supporting individual plans and providing observations and information to help review pupils' progress
  • Helping create a safe, stimulating and inclusive classroom environment
  • Supporting enrichment activities, school clubs, visits and wider school activities
  • Following safeguarding, online safety, confidentiality and health and safety procedures at all times
  • Promoting equality, diversity, inclusion and respect across the school community
  • Taking part in training, coaching and professional development as you work towards your apprenticeship
  • You will not be expected to know everything from day one. The apprenticeship is designed to help you learn. You will have support from experienced staff and opportunities to develop your skills and confidence throughout the programme

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 to 9 (A* to C))
  • Maths (grade 4 to 9 (A* to C))
