Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Our client is a fast-growing British innovation company changing the way solar is built into homes and buildings. Instead of bolting panels onto a roof, our integrated solar tiles sit flush with the roof itself, developed in partnership with FP McCann and installed through a nationwide network of approved installers. We work with homeowners, architects and housebuilders, and we are a small team with big plans.
They are looking for in-house marketing apprentice to film and photograph real solar roofing projects across the South East, fly their drone, turn footage into short-form content using the latest AI tools, and work with our SEO, Google Ads and video partners.
What you will do at work
You will become the day-to-day marketing lead inside the business, working closely with our Managing Director and the colleague who currently supports our marketing, and acting as the link to the specialist agencies we already use. We want to give the right person a lot of freedom to bring their own ideas.
Capturing our projects
- Travel to live projects to photograph and film installations as they happen
- Return to completed projects once the scaffolding is down to capture high quality finished photography and video
- Use a drone to capture installation and completion footage. Full drone training and professional camera and drone equipment are provided
Creating content
- Edit footage into short-form content for our social channels, and plan and schedule posts
- Work with our professional videographer and repurpose their footage into shorter social content
- Use AI tools extensively to create and repurpose content, and keep learning the latest ones
- Produce professional brochures, case studies and other marketing materials
- Write blogs and project case studies, and keep the website fresh and up to date
Working with our agencies
- Act as the main contact for our SEO and website team, Google Ads team and videographer
- Keep an eye on website, search, advertising and social performance, and report on what is working
- Research competitors and bring back ideas for things we could be doing better
Supporting business development
Help run targeted campaigns into specific markets. For example, you might create a brochure on using SolarTyle for outbuildings and timber structures, research relevant timber frame and outbuilding companies, make first contact, share the brochure and open up conversations for our sales team.
Personal qualities
We are looking for someone creative, enthusiastic and keen to learn, who is happy working on their own initiative and comfortable being out on the road. Experience with photography, video editing, design tools or running a social account (even your own) will help you stand out but is not essential.
Things to consider
- A full UK driving licence is essential, and you must be confident driving longer distances. A company car is provided
- Projects range from the South Coast up to Cambridge, so some days involve early starts and a lot of driving
- This is a home-based role, so you will need a suitable space to work from home
- Site visits take place on live construction and roofing projects. A safety induction and PPE are provided
Company benefits
- Company car provided
- Professional camera and drone equipment, with full drone training
- Business travel and expenses covered
- Flexible, home-based working with a lot of freedom
- Funded training and a nationally recognised qualification
- The chance to help shape the future of solar roofing
