Summary

Join MHA as an Audit Junior apprentice. You’ll gain hands-on experience working with a variety of clients, build your audit and accounting skills, and study towards AAT Level 4 and ACA Level 7 qualifications, with full study support and mentoring throughout your programme.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Working on audit and accounts preparation assignments with your team
  • Working closely with your mentor on audit planning memorandum
  • Analytical reviews
  • Drafting client letters 
  • Preparing accounts and producing sets of financial statements  
  • Studying towards professional qualification (AAT Level 4 / ACA Level 7)

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Build trusted and sustainable relationships with individuals and organisations. Consistently support individuals and collaborate to achieve results as part of a team.
  • Influence the impact of business decisions on relevant and affected communities based on an appreciation of different organisations and the environments in which they operate.
  • Communicate in a clear, articulate and appropriate manner.  Adapt communications to suit different  situations, individuals or teams.
  • Identify ethical dilemmas, understand the implications and behave appropriately. Understand their legal responsibilities, both within the letter and the spirit of the law, as well as be aware of the procedures for reporting concerns over potentially unethical activities.
  • Take ownership of allocated projects and effectively manage their own time and the time of others.  Demonstrate good project management skills to deliver high quality work within the appropriate timeline. Act as a role model and motivate others to deliver results.
  • Evaluate information quickly and draw accurate conclusions. Assess a problem from multiple angles  to ensure all relevant issues are considered. Gather the appropriate facts and evidence in order to make decisions effectively.

Training schedule

You’ll train through a combination of practical on-the-job experience, structured study and support from experienced colleagues. From day one, you’ll work on real audit and accounts assignments, developing your skills by working alongside your team and learning directly from experienced professionals.

Your training will include areas such as audit planning, analytical reviews, preparing accounts, producing financial statements and drafting client communications. You’ll also spend time working with different clients, both in MHA offices and at client sites, helping you build your technical knowledge, confidence and understanding of how different businesses operate.

Alongside your practical experience, you’ll study towards recognised professional qualifications, progressing through AAT Level 4 and ACA Level 7. MHA will provide a full study support package, including tuition, exam fees, study materials and dedicated study leave.

Throughout the programme, you’ll receive regular guidance, feedback and mentoring to support your development and help you progress towards becoming a qualified accounting professional.
