Summary

As a Chef Apprentice, you’ll work alongside our experienced kitchen team and learn all aspects of working in a busy food environment.

You’ll develop your skills in food preparation, cooking, presentation, food safety and kitchen organisation while helping us deliver the high-quality food The Cheesy Living Co. is known for.

£12,480 to £19,827.60, depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Preparing and cooking food to our recipes and quality standards
  • Learning to use professional kitchen equipment safely and effectively
  • Preparing ingredients, including chopping, portioning and basic food preparation
  • Assisting with food preparation during busy service periods
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen
  • Following food safety, allergen and health and safety procedures
  • Learning about stock rotation, storage and waste management
  • Helping with deliveries and putting stock away correctly
  • Supporting the wider kitchen team to ensure smooth service
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workstation
  • Following recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards
  • Providing a friendly and professional service to customers when required
  • Taking on additional responsibilities as your skills and confidence develop

Training schedule

This role is working across 30 hours a week, including evenings and weekends. The apprentice will train every Wednesday at Printworks Campus.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
