Summary

Finance Graduate – We’re looking for a bright, detail-driven finance graduate to join our busy group finance team. Working across our UK and US entities, you’ll gain hands-on exposure to the full breadth of a multi-currency, multi-entity finance function.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Financial Planning & Analysis (with the FP&A Manager)

  • Contribute to the annual budget and rolling reforecasts.
  • Analyse business performance against budget and forecast.
  • Develop and enhance planning models and reporting.
  • Deliver ad hoc commercial analysis.

Financial Control, Audit and Tax (with the Financial Controller)

  • Play an active role in year-end close and statutory accounts preparation.
  • Support external audits.
  • Take ownership of balance sheet areas.
  • Contribute to VAT and corporate tax compliance.

Management Accounting (with the Management Accountant)

  • Analyse manufacturing performance.
  • Develop expertise in accounting for capitalised development costs.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Build trusted and sustainable relationships with individuals and organisations. Consistently support individuals and collaborate to achieve results as part of a team.
  • Influence the impact of business decisions on relevant and affected communities based on an appreciation of different organisations and the environments in which they operate.
  • Communicate in a clear, articulate and appropriate manner.  Adapt communications to suit different  situations, individuals or teams.
  • Identify ethical dilemmas, understand the implications and behave appropriately. Understand their legal responsibilities, both within the letter and the spirit of the law, as well as be aware of the procedures for reporting concerns over potentially unethical activities.
  • Take ownership of allocated projects and effectively manage their own time and the time of others.  Demonstrate good project management skills to deliver high quality work within the appropriate timeline. Act as a role model and motivate others to deliver results.
  • Evaluate information quickly and draw accurate conclusions. Assess a problem from multiple angles  to ensure all relevant issues are considered. Gather the appropriate facts and evidence in order to make decisions effectively.

Training schedule

As an Accounting Apprentice with BPP, you will complete the Accountancy Taxation Professional Apprenticeship at Level 7. Within the apprenticeship you will undertake the ACCA professional qualification.

The apprenticeship will be completed at a BPP centre or via the Online Classroom platform, in addition to at the workplace.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths and English (grade Grade 5 or equivalent)

A Level in:

3 A-Levels including Maths (grade Grade B or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
