Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
As an Engineering Apprentice, you will shadow experienced engineers and gain a broad understanding of the business while developing practical engineering skills. You will support the engineering team in maintaining a wide range of production equipment and site facilities, helping to ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently.
Key Duties:
- Shadow skilled engineers and learn engineering best practices
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of production machinery
- Support the upkeep of corrugators, case makers, and die cutters
- Help maintain automated conveyor and transfer systems
- Assist with the servicing of palletisers, strapping machines, and wrapping machines
- Support planned preventative maintenance activities
- Help diagnose and resolve mechanical faults
- Assist with the maintenance of the site's general building infrastructure
- Follow all health and safety procedures and company standards

- Identify equipment to work on. Check plant configuration is as defined.
- Prepare the work area for maintenance tasks.
- Identify environmental and health and safety hazards and risks and apply control measures.
- Apply health, safety, and environmental procedures in compliance with regulations, standards, and guidance. For example, signage and barriers, working at height, confined spaces, and COSHH.
- Follow security procedures. For example, site access, document classification, and securing assets.

- Company Training Plan & Assessment
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Development Knowledge (1 day per week for 2 years at college)
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance (workplace)
- Level 2 Functional Skills - Maths (If required)
- Level 2 Functional Skills - English (If required)
- End Point Assessment at the end of the apprenticeship

- The apprentice will be based at our site and should be able to travel to and from the workplace reliably each day. College will be in Bicester
