Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Support the day-to-day supervision of construction activities on site
- Assist with planning and coordinating work to ensure projects remain on schedule
- Monitor health, safety and environmental requirements and promote safe working practices
- Work with tradespeople, subcontractors, suppliers and other members of the site team
- Carry out site inspections and help monitor the quality of completed work
- Assist with site records, reports, progress updates and other project documentation
- Attend site meetings, briefings and toolbox talk
- Help organise materials, equipment and resources required for planned works
- Identify and report potential issues, risks or delays to the Site Manager
- Communicate professionally with colleagues, contractors, clients and other stakeholders
- Develop practical knowledge of construction methods, drawings and specifications
- Work towards taking greater responsibility for supervising construction activities as skills and experience develop

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
- Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
- Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
- Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
- Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
- Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
- Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.
Training schedule
Block release every 6 weeks at AccXel.
