Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
As a Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprentice, you will work as part of the nursery team, supporting the care, learning and development of children while working towards your Early Years Educator qualification. You will work closely with experienced practitioners, your room team, families and other professionals to develop your knowledge and practical skills.
You will gain hands-on experience supporting children's development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the nursery's curriculum. You will develop your understanding of child-centred practice, observations and assessments, safeguarding, health and safety, communication and working effectively with families and colleagues.
You will also have the opportunity to develop your confidence in planning activities, supporting children's individual needs and milestones, contributing to the nursery environment and building positive relationships with children, parents and professionals.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of high-quality care, learning and development for children in line with the EYFS, nursery curriculum and relevant policies and procedures.
- Build positive, professional relationships with children, parents, colleagues and other professionals, using effective written and verbal communication.
- Support the observation, assessment and planning process for children, helping to identify and respond to their individual interests, needs and developmental milestones.
- Work alongside experienced practitioners to provide engaging, age-appropriate activities and experiences that promote children's learning and development.
- Develop an understanding of safeguarding procedures and promptly report any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in line with nursery procedures.
- Follow health and safety, hygiene and other nursery policies and procedures, helping to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for children.
- Support the room team with day-to-day responsibilities, including room preparation, maintaining hygiene standards and ensuring resources and activities are ready for the children.
- Develop an understanding of when children may require additional support and learn about appropriate referral processes when working with families and other professionals.
- Support key person responsibilities by developing positive relationships with designated children and their families, contributing to discussions around children's progress and development.
- Contribute to the wider nursery team and community, including supporting the positive promotion of the nursery and helping to provide a welcoming experience for current and prospective families.

- Create inclusive and supportive emotional environment that enables the child to feel safe, secure, respected and experience a sense of wellbeing; maintaining and prioritising the individual child’s voice.

- Analyse observation evidence to assess and plan holistic individual learning based on a comprehensive understanding of the child’s needs and interests.
