Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
This is a hands-on apprenticeship in our GEO outreach department. Your job, in plain English, is to help strengthen and protect the backlink profiles of around twenty client websites. Backlinks, which are links from other reputable websites to our clients' sites, remain one of the strongest signals search engines and AI tools use to decide who to trust and who to recommend. Building good ones, keeping them, and replacing the ones that go missing is important work, and it sits at the heart of what we do for our clients.
You do not need to know how to do any of this yet. We will teach you. What we are looking for is someone curious, organised and personable, who enjoys writing, is comfortable reaching out to people they have not met and wants to build a career in marketing rather than simply pass the time.
What you will be doing:
- Researching and building lists of relevant, good quality websites, publications, directories and industry bodies that could link to each client, using tools such as Semrush and our own outreach systems
- Writing warm, well-crafted outreach emails to editors, bloggers, business owners and partner organisations, and following them up politely and persistently
- Helping to create the content that earns links, such as guest articles, expert comments, local news stories, case studies and data pieces, working alongside our content and digital PR team
- Monitoring each client's backlink profile, spotting links that have been lost or broken, and reclaiming them
- Building and tidying local citations and business directory listings so every client's details are accurate and consistent across the web
- Keeping our outreach tracker up to date so the team always knows what has been sent, what has been won and what needs chasing
- Reporting monthly on links gained, links lost and the difference it is making to each client's visibility in search and AI results
- Sitting in on client calls and meetings as you grow in confidence, so you understand the businesses you are working for
- Learning the wider marketing toolkit, including SEO, content, paid media and social, through your apprenticeship modules and by working alongside the team.
How we work:
All of our outreach is white hat. We follow Google's Search Central guidelines to the letter, we never buy links or use link schemes, and we earn our results with good content and good relationships. You will be trained in this from day one, and you will never be asked to do anything that could put a client's website at risk.
