Summary

You’ll be working alongside the Director, learning the payroll process and gaining practical experience in payroll whilst working towards your Finance Assistant Level 2 qualification.

We will provide full training on payroll, how each clients works and on systems we use.

Wage

£13,520 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Assist in the processing of end-to-end payroll calculations for various pay frequencies
  • Updating pension schemes with contributions data
  • Dealing with set-up of new clients
  • Updating and monitoring holiday pay records for clients
  • Learning and keeping updated with payroll legislation
  • Updating various spreadsheets for client requirements
  • Support clients with onboarding and offboarding of staff members
  • Answering payroll related queries from clients and their staff
  • Liaising with pension providers, HMRC and other external bodies

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule

The successful candidate will be required to attend weekday courses, once a week, at First Intuition to study towards their AAT Level 2 qualification as well as mentoring towards the Level 2 Apprenticeship knowledge, skills, and behaviours.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
