Assisting our engineers with tasks including fitting out new machines, maintaining & servicing equipment at customer premises. The role includes electrical duties, such as assisting the building of control panels, circuits and wiring. The apprentice will be taught how to trouble shoot faults and make necessary repairs.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Assist Senior Engineers: Work directly alongside experienced maintenance engineers to learn practical skills in machine manufacturing and servicing
- Equipment Inspection & Testing: Learn to inspect, test, and ensure the safety and functionality of vacuum lifting equipment
- Repairs & Circuit Assembly: Assemble mechanical parts and electrical/pneumatic circuits, and carry out repairs for integration into company machinery
- On-Site Customer Servicing: Travel to client facilities to conduct routine servicing, maintenance, and equipment inspections
- Documentation & Reporting: Complete detailed check sheets and generate accurate inspection reports for completed work
- Hands-On Technical Support: Apply practical hand-tool skills and a mechanical/electrical aptitude to daily manufacturing and maintenance tasks

Engineering Maintenance Technician - single discipline Level 3.
The apprenticeship training will take place at the Sheffield Colleges Advanced Technology Centre campus and be delivered on a day release.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:

- Maths (grade 9-4)
- Science (grade 9-4)

Other requirements
Applicant should be a driver or learning to drive. The ideal applicant should be someone who already has interests which involve working with their hands. e.g. motor vehicle or cycle maintenance or other creative hobbies.
