Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Review drawings, specifications and tender documents.
- Assist with quantity take-offs and measurements.
- Obtain prices from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Help prepare quotations and tender submissions.
- Compare supplier prices and material costs.
- Update estimating spreadsheets and project information.
- Assist with identifying risks, exclusions and assumptions.
- Support the estimating team with general tender enquiries.
- Maintain accurate records and filing of tender information.
- Attend training and complete apprenticeship coursework as required.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
- Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
- Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
- Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
- Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
- Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
- Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
- Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.
Training schedule
The role will be primarily based at our Rossett office. Some travel will be required from time to time, including occasional visits to project sites in London, but this will be minimal and arranged as required.
