Summary

St Thomas More High School are seeking to recruit a Finance Apprentice who will assist the Finance Team in handling day-to-day financial transactions across the Assisi Catholic Trust and in accordance with the Academies Financial Handbook, school financial regulations and policies.

Wage

£15,392 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Assist with checking full receipt of orders, annotating the records appropriately. Checking statements, as and when received, to ensure timely payment of invoices
  • Maintain manual and computerised financial records
  • Placing orders for school resources
  • Receive deliveries into the school and arrange for delivery to the correct department
  • Liaise with companies regarding orders and research in order to obtain best value for purchases
  • To carry out all financial administration in accordance with the Academies Financial Handbook, school financial regulations and policies
  • These duties are not exhaustive and additional duties may be required to ensure the safe and smooth running of the school

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule

The successful candidate will be required to attend weekday courses, once a week, at First Intuition to study towards their AAT Level 2 qualification as well as mentoring towards the Level 2 Apprenticeship knowledge, skills, and behaviours.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
