Summary

The Trainee Resident Liaison Officer role provides an excellent opportunity to develop customer service skills within the construction industry. The training will equip the trainee with the necessary knowledge and experience needed to become a successful Resident Liaison Officer.

Working hours are at the line manager’s discretion, and in line with the business hours of 08:00-17:00, Monday to Friday. Working days: 1 day released to study, the remaining 4 days to work on site.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Act as a point of contact for residents regarding project-related matters
  • Assist in the communication of project timelines, schedules, and any potential disruptions to residents
  • Assist in keeping residents informed about the progress of a project and addressing their questions and concerns
  • Assist in conducting regular visits to residents' homes to provide updates and address any issues
  • Learn and develop strong customer service skills, including empathy, active listening, and problem-solving
  • Maintaining a professional and courteous approach in all interactions with residents
  • Ensure a positive experience for residents throughout the project lifecycle
  • Assist in booking appointments, managing schedules, and coordinating interactions to reduce disruption for residents and local businesses
  • Assist in the maintenance of records of resident interactions, complaints, and resolutions
  • Assist in the preparation of reports on resident feedback and project progress
  • Respond to and resolve resident complaints, queries, and concerns effectively
  • Working with residents and the project team and their mentor to find solutions to problems
  • Working closely with the site management team to ensure smooth communication and project execution
  • Liaising with other stakeholders, such as contractors, suppliers, and local authorities
  • Attending project meetings and providing resident-related updates

  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

Training schedule

  • Full day-to-day training will be provided by the employer
  • This apprenticeship qualification is called Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner
  • The learning will be delivered by dedicated, industry-specialist tutors via remote sessions
  • These session take place once or twice per month, for roughly 2 hours, at a time convenient for both you and the employer

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade A* - C / 9 - 4)
  • Maths (grade A* - C / 9 - 4)

You will be based at a live site in Milton Keynes, but Lawtech Group Ltd has its head office at 8 Ambley Green, Gillingham Business Park, Kent ME8 0NJ. You will be required to attend this location for your induction.
