Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Level 3 Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship, supported by our training partner Skills Edge and the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Qualifications, to achieve the Certificate in Insurance ("CII") qualification. The successful candidate will be supported to complete professional qualifications within an 18-month apprenticeship, with at least 20% of their working time dedicated to training, studying and learning.

As an Apprentice Marine Insurance Broker, you will need to complete a variety of tasks including:

  • Build and maintain ongoing relations with new and existing clients
  • Take information from clients, to enable assessment of their insurance needs
  • Research insurance companies’ policies and negotiate to find and compare the most suitable cover within regional and Lloyds of London markets
  • Ensure that clients understand the terms and cover provided in new business and renewal quotations
  • Manage client needs and expectation throughout the policy life to include any amendments
  • Advise clients in respect of the claims process and how to mitigate risk
  • Support team members with managing their client base and answering customer queries via telephone and email

No prior Insurance experience is required. You will be given appropriate support and supervision to both carry out your job role and complete the apprenticeship.

Training schedule

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths and English (grade 4/C or above)
