Summary

Cubico Sustainable Investments are looking for a proactive, organised Reception & Office Apprentice to support office operations and reception duties, while working towards a nationally recognised qualification in a leading renewable energy sector.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

The Reception & Office Apprentice will support the smooth day-to-day running of Cubico Sustainable Investments, combining front-of-house reception duties with administrative support across the business.

Working within a professional corporate environment, the apprentice will develop core administration, communication and organisational skills within the renewable energy sector.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Front of House:

  • Always maintain a tidy & presentable reception area
  • Manage meeting room bookings, ensuring appropriate scheduling and setup
  • Greet international guests & external visitors warmly
  • Answer & direct telephone calls, emails & general enquiries in a professional manner
  • Report any issues in meeting rooms to the Office Manager & IT department

General Administrative Duties:

  • Manage incoming & outgoing correspondence, including post & courier deliveries
  • Monitor office conditions & report issues to the Office Manager
  • Maintain accurate electronic & paper-based filing systems
  • Ensure confidential business information is handled appropriately & in line with company policies
  • Support the wider business with general office administration duties as required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying ways to enhance administrative processes
  • Oversee the general upkeep including inventory maintenance & organisation of the main and Executive Committee kitchen

Office Events Coordination:

  • Help organise company events, meetings & team activities where required
  • Assist with logistics for board meetings, room setup, catering & on-the-day requests

Skills & Experience Gained:

  • Front-of-house experience, including greeting visitors, managing calls and directing enquiries professionally
  • Business administration experience within a professional corporate environment
  • Knowledge of administrative systems, processes and office procedures
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Professional communication skills with colleagues, suppliers and visitors
  • Meeting and diary coordination, including room bookings and hospitality arrangements
  • Document management and record-keeping skills
  • Data accuracy and attention to detail
  • Organisation, prioritisation and time management skills
  • Awareness of confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a team
  • Exposure to the renewable energy and investment sector

Training schedule

You will be completing the Level 2 Administration Assistant Apprenticeship Standard with Darlington Borough Council Learning & Skills. 

The Administration Apprenticeship is designed to equip participants with the fundamentals required to work in any business environment. The programme can be delivered using a blend of on-line, anytime learning and expert-led classroom training covering core topics.

Throughout this Apprenticeship, participants will be supported by tutors who have worked in a business environment and have gained many years of experience and who can truly support you to develop the skills and knowledge required to work in a wide range of administrative roles. This will also provide a potential progression route onto the Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship.

Training will be provided to achieve the following qualifications:

Level 2 Administration Apprenticeship Standard

Training will take place weekly, remotely via Teams. These sessions with help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to ensure these exceed the minimum requirements for the Administration Assistant Level 2 apprenticeship standards.
