Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
- Assist with measuring construction works and preparing cost estimates, budgets, and valuations for projects.
- Support the procurement process by obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations, comparing costs, and helping to prepare contracts.
- Monitor project costs and progress, maintain accurate records, and assist in producing financial reports and forecasts.
- Work closely with quantity surveyors, site teams, and clients, attending meetings and helping to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
- Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
- Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
- Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
- Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
- Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
- Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
- Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.
Training schedule
- The apprentice will work towards their Apprenticeship Standard in L4 Construction Quantity Surveying Technician.
- The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated assessor who will provide support and guidance throughout the course.
- This is a day release programme which means you will attend Lincoln College, one day a week, term-time only. This will fall within your contracted working hours.
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- 3 Further Subjects (grade A*/9 – C/4)
- English and Maths (grade A*/9 – C/4)
48 UCAS points (A Levels Or BTEC Diploma) in:
