Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Your training and responsibilities as a Workshop Apprentice, will include (but not be limited to) the following:
- Manufacture and installation of specialist equipment, including mechanical and electrical components
- Set and operate manual machines as required
- Use a variety of hand tools to complete tasks as required
- Accurately follow job cards and update accordingly
- Understand and read engineering drawings/symbols
- Operate forklift truck as required (once trained)
- Work to quality standards required for the components
- Undertake final inspections of finished components/products
- When trained, ensure job timings are met/exceeded
You’ll learn side-by-side with experienced engineers who are passionate about sharing their knowledge, giving you hands-on exposure to a wide range of tasks and a real understanding of how the whole business operates. The successful candidate will continue their studies with apprenticeship specialists, RNN Group at their Rotherham campus on a day release format, giving you the training and support you need to become an all-rounded and successful engineer.

The ideal applicant for this role would have already studied/had experience of electrical components, wiring etc. This would be an opportunity for somebody to become multi-skilled.
