What you'll do at work
Are you passionate about sport, community wellbeing, and helping others thrive? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join us as a Community Activator Coach (Level 3 Apprentice). This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills, gain recognised qualifications, and play a meaningful role in inclusive community programmes.
About the Role:
As an apprentice, you’ll support and help deliver a range of community-focused activities designed to improve health, wellbeing, and social connection. You’ll be part of a welcoming and supportive team, working alongside experienced coaches and dedicated volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
Support our community-driven programmes, including:
- A weekly Sporting Memories dementia club
- A walking sports programme
- Love to Move sessions for individuals with cognitive conditions
- Assist coaches in delivering junior tennis, cricket, and hockey sessions, with the opportunity to gain Level 1 and Level 2 coaching qualifications
- Help develop and grow our schools outreach programme, working with local primary and secondary schools (with guidance from Head Coaches, progressing to leading the programme independently)
- Learn how to research and write grant applications to support new and existing community projects
- Contribute to the day-to-day running of the club, including reception, membership support, and front-of-house duties

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Successful application of tactics and strategies to empower people from inactive and hard to reach populations to take up an active lifestyle
- Successful application of a range of approaches that bring about changes in attitudes and behaviours within target communities
- Supporting people within target communities to become involved in the preparation, planning and delivery of sport and active lifestyles
- Using local insight and customer-orientated marketing skills to attract high priority groups into existing leisure, parks and sport infrastructure
- Negotiation, lobbying and brokerage skills with local partners across public health, community development and anti social behaviour
- Demonstrate clear and effective communication techniques in order to give/receive information accurately and in a timely and positive manner
- Problem solving and effective decision making with regards the design and implementation of sport and physical activity programmes
- Writing successful funding bids to enable new, different or more opportunities to take place for sport and physical activity
- Managing disruptive behaviour of clients and customers before, during and after activities
- Managing and adapting personal behaviours to ensure provision is inclusive, customer-focused and accessible
- Building partnerships and developing meaningful relationships with local partners and stakeholders in sport and physical activity

Other requirements
- Will be required to support and ultimately run coaching sessions which be outdoors in all weathers.
- Own transport would be a benefit to enable candidate to drive to fixtures or local school to support our Outreach Programme.
- The role includes an element of office work requiring customer contact and administration tasks.
