Summary

As an Apprentice Commis Chef, you will support the senior kitchen team in transforming high-quality ingredients into incredible, authentic Italian dishes. This role is fast-paced, highly creative, and offers a great opportunity for someone with limited kitchen experience to learn fundamental culinary skills.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Learn how to portion, cut, slice, dip, batter, maintain holding temperature, frying, and sauté
  • Select cuts of meat, poultry, shellfish, fish, game, or vegetables to be used for frying or sautéing
  • Plate menu items along with appropriate garnish
  • Learn a wide variety of cooking techniques and methods

Training schedule

  • You will complete the Commis Chef Level 2 apprenticeship with HIT Training
  • Your apprenticeship includes regular one‑to‑one sessions with a dedicated trainer/coach, workplace learning, and online study
