Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Learn to set up, operate and programme CNC lathes and milling machines
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Produce high-quality precision components to customer specifications
- Use precision measuring equipment to inspect components and ensure they meet quality standards
- Assist with machine set-ups, tooling changes and routing machine maintenance
- Work efficiently as part of a team to meet customer quality standards and delivery deadlines
- Follow health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised work environment
- Complete college coursework and work towards a recognised engineering qualification
