Summary
Apprentice Accounts Assistant is a full-time role in a close-knit finance team of three. You'll support day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, purchase and sales invoice processing, expense approvals, and managing the shared finance inbox. As your experience grows you'll assist with accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.

This hybrid role is based in Kidlington, with office attendance on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (9.00am - 5.00pm). Mondays are college study days. Thursdays and Fridays are remote, except the last Friday of each month which is office-based for business briefings.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Shared ownership of the purchase ledger• Shared ownership of the purchase ledger
- Processing supplier invoices
- Setting up and maintaining supplier accounts in Xero
- Preparation of supplier batch payments
- Monitor the internal purchase order tracker
- Process employee credit card and cash expenses
- Manage supplier invoice queries
- Support with monthly reconciliation of consultancy revenue (delivered v billed)
- Raise sales invoices during busy periods
- Cash allocation of incoming receipts
- Credit control activity
- Assist the Accounts Assistant with month end management account reconciliation
- Assist the Finance Manager with month end/year end accounts

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

GCSE in:

- The role is office based and involves a high amount of collaboration and cross team working with internal and external stakeholders
- We use MS Teams to remotely connect during the working day and hold most meetings on Teams where they cannot be in person during the office days
