Summary
Timsons Engineering in Kettering are looking for two Foundry Moulder Engineering Apprentices to join their team. You will also achieve your engineering qualification whilst learning how to produce moulds and cores, learn about different moulding techniques and operate machinery.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Timsons Engineering in Kettering are looking for two apprentices to join their team.
Your duties will include the following:
- To produce moulds and cores using boxed and boxless moulding techniques
- To operate sand mixing machinery and understand principles of chemical technology
- To learn and understand the principles of running and feeding systems and apply this to the moulding process to ensure sound castings
- You will form part of the casting team and assist with the movement of molten metal and the casting of moulds and understand the basic principles of metallurgy
- You will learn how to operate all relevant measuring equipment
- You will also learn how to understand engineering drawings relevant to the process
- Working a 37.5 hour week, plus overtime when available

About this employer
Timsons Engineering’s subcontract engineering services offer a diverse range of premium quality castings in various weights from 1kg to 2.5 tonnes plus a CNC machining service that can accommodate every casting poured. The iron foundry facility has two modern electric induction furnaces designed to produce high quality castings in small to medium batch quantities in all grades of grey iron, SG iron and Austempered Ductile Iron. Quality is assured. We hold accreditation to ISO 9001:2015 for both our machine shop and our iron foundry. We offer 100% inspection of all components and have co-ordinate measuring, balancing and gear inspection equipment.
