However, we have a flexible start and finish time policy allowing for starting anywhere between 8.30am and 9.30am and finishing between 5pm and 6pm, or 4.30pm on a Friday.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
What you’d be involved in
- General office duties including answering the telephone, filing, franking etc.
- Being a support arm to Senior Accountants, working on project task as required
- Preparation of VAT returns (on-the-job training will be provided)
- Maintaining IRIS database – managing the data accurately and efficiently
- Writing to clients; including datamining and preparing mail merge documents.
- Full exposure to the different elements of accounting and business advisory based on skills identified over your time with the firm
- Job shaping – completing role specific tasks as you progress through the firm

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Build trusted and sustainable relationships with individuals and organisations. Consistently support individuals and collaborate to achieve results as part of a team.
- Influence the impact of business decisions on relevant and affected communities based on an appreciation of different organisations and the environments in which they operate.
- Communicate in a clear, articulate and appropriate manner. Adapt communications to suit different situations, individuals or teams.
- Identify ethical dilemmas, understand the implications and behave appropriately. Understand their legal responsibilities, both within the letter and the spirit of the law, as well as be aware of the procedures for reporting concerns over potentially unethical activities.
- Take ownership of allocated projects and effectively manage their own time and the time of others. Demonstrate good project management skills to deliver high quality work within the appropriate timeline. Act as a role model and motivate others to deliver results.
- Evaluate information quickly and draw accurate conclusions. Assess a problem from multiple angles to ensure all relevant issues are considered. Gather the appropriate facts and evidence in order to make decisions effectively.
Training schedule
Training
- Face to face learning via training provider approx. 1 day per week with an exam schedule determined by provider
- You will be enrolled onto a relevant Accounting Course via an Apprenticeship - the course will be discussed based on experience and current qualifications (eligibility applies)
- You will undertake tri-partite progress reviews every 2 months with the course provider, the firm and you to monitor performance with your study and job performance
- You will receive on the job training for any new task that you undertake and accountancy-related software

Other requirements
Essential skills
- 5 GCSEs Grades A*-C, including maths and English
- Strong IT Skills, preferably demonstrated with an IT qualification (GCSE or equivalent), which includes a working knowledge of Outlook, Excel and Work
Desirable skills
- A-level Maths, Accountancy or Economics
- Specific experience of working within an accountancy practice or other professional services practice (e.g.solicitors office, architects office, etc.)
