Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • You will work alongside Construction Inspectors and Contract Administrators to ensure high-quality project delivery, carrying out site inspections and leading on smaller schemes such as fire door installations and repairs
  • You’ll monitor compliance with building regulations, quality standards, and health & safety requirements, challenge contractors where needed, and support value-for-money outcomes
  • The role involves regular site reporting, attending project meetings, and assisting with surveys including snagging and defect inspections, with work at height using access equipment as required

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

1 day a week at Chichester College

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 9 to 4)
  • Maths (grade 9 to 4)

A Level in:

Any Subject (grade A to C)
